** PROJECT CAR ** SPUN BEARING FOLLOWING OIL STARVATION **
Subaru Hawkeye WRX 2.5 in Silver with gold powder coated Team Dynamics wheels (18”).
Highly modified with around £30k spent around 3 years/9,000 miles ago - fully forged engine, VF400 turbo, 6 speed Sti gearbox, SL heated leather interior, Team Dynamics wheels, BC coilovers etc. Running an estimated 380-400bhp. Full spec below.
UNFORTUNATELY IT HAS SUFFERED OIL STAVATION AND RUN A BEARING. CURRENTLY THE ENGINE IS OUT/DISMANTLED TO ASSESS DAMAGE. FORGED PISTONS (99.5MM) AND RODS ALL SEEM GOOD. WAS NOT RUN FOR LONG AFTER KNOCK STARTED BUT SOME MINOR BORE SCORE AND OBVIOUSLY BEARINGS/CRANK REQUIRED. SUSPICION IS THAT THE LACK OF A BAFFLED SUMP HAS CAUSED THE ISSUE THOUGH IT HAS NEVER BEEN TRACKED. HONESTLY, I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WASN’T STANDARD ON SUCH AN EXPENSIVE BUILD AND IS SOMETHINIG WE WOULD HAVE REMEDIED QUICKLY HAD WE REALISED…
WE INTEND REBUILDING BUT HAVE DECIDED TO INITIALLY OFFER AS A PROJECT PENDING IT GAINING WORKSHOP TIME.
Car itself is in very good condition with some stone chips and car park dings but nothing that detracts. Sti rear spoiler but otherwise still presents as a WRX. Professionally restored chassis by Scoobybits with NO RUST (minor blister appeared on one rear arch). Underneath presents well with much powder coated and the shell itself coated with black stone chip. Engine bay nicely dressed, repainted/powder coated. Very good interior with heated SL leather seats/door cards and good condition standard silver dash trim. Fitted dash top gauge cluster with oil pressure, oil temperature and turbo boost gauges – all working correctly. Single din Sony stereo (not the Alpine shown – it’s faulty and has been swapped out) and Subaru covered oddment space. Standard WRX steering wheel.
In total around £30,000 has been spent on the car (ignoring the base vehicle) over the past 3 years and 9000 miles. Spend was in the main through Scoobybits here in Cornwall by the previous owner (£24,600). Forged engine was by Pole Position. It was put back on the road in its current spec in March 2023 at around 80,500 miles. Following a change in circumstances, we bought the car in late 2024 with under 82,000 on the clock and used it as a daily driver for the past 18 months/7000 miles. It drove exceptionally well.
