Porsche 911 Targa 3.6 Manual
£17,995
2002
116,000 miles (warranted)
- Full engine rebuilt (all 6 liners) costing £10k 20k miles ago
- Full service history (for all the good it did!) with 13 stamps
- Rare Targa with 2WD and manual gearbox
- Lovely colour combination
Super rare variant of the ever desirable 996.2 in great condition and in a lovely colour combination of Lapis Blue with extended grey leather interior. Manual with the vital engine rebuild carried only 20k miles ago, sports exhaust by Porsche/Carnewal and full service history.
One of only 2,693 manual Targas produced worldwide (compared with 5,750 of the not so rare GT3!). Lovely condition having had only 6 owners with the last enthusiast having owned and cared for the car for over 7 years. During this time the fully serviced car unfortunately succumbed to the dreaded bore score issues that plague this generation of 911. Honestly, don’t believe the people that say not all cars are affected. The key phase is ‘yet’. It really does seem that they are all going to fail as the miles increase and the only way to avoid the £10-15k bill is to ensure you buy one that has already had the rebuild!! This engine was rebuilt in 2021 at 96k including all 6 liners. Be careful as rebuilds often only change the liners on the worst affected rhs of the engine as not doing all 6 saves £000’s… Needless to say IMS and clutch also done.
Lots of other crucial maintenance carried out in recent years including alternator, air/oil separator, condensers, brake pipes all round, top mounts, engine mounts – basically all the usual issues. Brakes are good – rears recent and fronts with loads of life left - but due to a mention of corrosion on the 110k service there is a new set of front discs and pads included – easy swap which we’d be happy to do if the purchaser wants us to though personally we would leave as there are thousands of miles left in the ones fitted. The optional Porsche sports exhaust has been further upgraded by Carnewal in Germany to provide a louder, deeper sound but with no resonance.
The 18” Carrera 5 spoke alloys, which have been refurbished in the recent past, are fitted with coloured crest centres and a good set of N rated Pirelli P Zero tyres. Factory fitted from new rear Carrera spoiler. Unusually the car was specified from new with the ill-favoured wood trim to the steering wheel, instrument surround, central dash etc. This has now all been replaced with factory black trim and the wheel recovered in Alcantara by Royal steering wheels. Retro look Blaupunkt Bluetooth stereo fitted to replace the rather outdated Porsche sat nav (all original parts, including the phone, included). The lovely targa top works perfectly – sun shade intact, opens and closes smooothly and the rear hatch pops open, stays up on new struts and soft closes correctly.
Driving extremely well with a lovely gearchange (rare for an old 996) due to the upgraded 997 gearshift mechanism fitted – with a lovely Alcantara gear knob
Comes with 3 keys, dash spare parts, original stereo and CD autochanger, full book pack and stamped service book and 3 organised files of history. Serviced at 115k in November 2025 with an advisory free MOT running through to September 2026.
