A rare opportunity to acquire a low mileage, unmolested, one owner 340R. This is number 328 of 340 and is one of the 171 original UK market cars. In the possession of a single owner since supplied new by Bell & Colville in July 2000 and serviced by them throughout.

Specified with the highly desirable 190bhp VHPD pack which was dealer installed by B&C (as they all were, being technically not road legal). The car also has the rare, lighter titanium exhaust, oil cooler, and the optional engraved fire extinguisher. A (new) race/AGP battery is fitted.

The car was used as intended for the first few years but in later years was used less and less until 2019 when, despite having been serviced and a new set of track tyres fitted to the standard wheels in 2018, it was parked on a tender until earlier this year. Since acquiring the car, we have carried out a full recommission including a cambelt service, a replacement full aluminium radiator (precautionary – the originals are part plastic and often fail), new flexible brake lines, new race battery and a new MOT. As with many 340R’s, the soft touch finish to the centre console had suffered so carbon fibre pieces from Reverie have been fitted. Similarly, the rubber dash mat had shrunk back and is now carbon. The original parts are all included. The again common failure of the LCD readout within the speedo has been repaired by Stack using the newer more robust screen. This doesn’t affect the mileage recorded as that is stored in the ECU. However, it should be noted that for several MoT’s and services the mileage was not visible.

The car comes with an additional set of Elise road wheels with ‘brand new’ unused Pirelli tyres (but dated 2000…) as well as the original magnesium alloys which are fitted with a good set of Avon ZZS track tyres. These have around 6mm left but are dated 2018. We would normally replace these tyres as while legal (and tbh feel fine on the road) they are a little old. As tyre choice on the car really depends on its intended usage, it is something we have left to be discussed with any new owner.

Overall, the car is in lovely condition with all the original spoilers, seats and steering wheel in place. The blue Alcantara trim is still in good condition with no ‘polished’ areas. The only other area of soft touch that has suffered slightly, and is just starting to bubble in places, is the silver edging to the side panels surrounding the blue Alcantara – though it is nowhere near as bad as the majority of cars. Exterior paint looks to be all original with no marks to the silver/blue metallic and only the occasional minor stone chip to the black sections. The full aluminium undertrays are all present and undamaged.

Currently the car has the catalytic converter fitted for its MoT together with a standard 340R/Exige ‘177’ ECU as the ‘190’ one won’t easily pass emissions. In the past B&C always switched the ECU for one of their own at MOT time so we have sourced an original 177 ECU for the car in order that any MOT station can keep the car legal going forwards. The decat pipe that forms part of the 190 package together with both ECU’s come with the car.

Unfortunately there is no book pack and only a single key (but 2 immobiliser key fobs). Service history is in the form of a full printout from B&C together with copies of a number of the invoices – all of which can be seen in the documentation section.
