Older restoration (2002) J series Interceptor in a very elegant colour scheme of Rolls Royce Shell Grey metallic with original black leather interior. 

I have owned the car since 2012 but, having only covered 3000 miles in nearly 15 years it is probably time to acknowledge that I don’t use it enough. It is therefore reluctantly on the market. It has been off the road for a few years stored in a Carcoon but over the past couple of months it has been recommissioned and is running well.

Currently showing 77,600 miles which while this cannot be warranted is supported by the history file.

The car was original built with a normal 3C designation 7.2 but it seems quite early in its life this was upgraded to a Hi-Po High compression engine [with EXP engine number?]. This is to SP specification with regards internals but runs the standard Carter thermoquad. As a high compression engine it requires both super and an octane booster but does have respectable get up and go! The history shows that it had the heads rebuilt with unleaded inserts as well as a gearbox rebuild at circa 62,000 miles. It has a quick shift kit fitted, and a prior owner claims a 14.5 second quarter at Oulton Park (a period Countach would do 14.4…). Good stainless exhaust system.

Lovely older paintwork with no micro blistering but with a few minor touch ups and minor cracks where it has been lead loaded rather than epoxy filled. Good chrome and stainless trims and no pitting to the door handles. Good condition black vinyl roof (an SP look alike touch) and great condition original black leather with beige leather headlining. All switch gear in good condition and everything bar the a/c works. The original Jensen branded 8 track has been repaired and refitted – but with the added benefit of a Parrot Bluetooth music streaming system also present for when Buddy Holley gets a bit tiring. Rear seat belts retrofitted using original mountings. Nice black Moto Lita steering wheel and a Mark 1 gear selector knob. Remote central locking.

Under bonnet is neat and tidy with recent engine fans, new full underbonnet wiring loom and fully serviced. Wheels are in good condition but the tyres fitted, while legal, are old and could do with replacement. At the asking price one can assume a new set of Blockleys in the correct size but as Pirrelli CN12’s have just become available again (albeit at huge cost) I decided it was best left to a new owner to decide as tyres can be a bit of a personal choice.

There is a modern a/c compressor fitted and much money was spent on the system just prior to my ownership (including conversion to R134a gas) but I have not had it working as yet.

2026 recommissioning included rebuilt Carter Carb, new transmission sump and gasket (to add a drain plug), new transmission filter and oil change, new battery leads, new 90amp alternator, new door mirrors, upgraded gas bonnet supports, new HT leads, distributor cap/rotor, oil service.

2019/20 – under bonnet rewire using new loom and removal of ‘90’s immobiliser, new radiator fans and all auxiliary belts replaced.

2014 – new valley/inlet manifold gaskets, new rocker gaskets

2013 - @75,992 miles – brake and suspension works for MoT

Last MoT October 2016 – 77,447

Late 2002 – 2004 Toby x – Had the car stripped of bright blue metallic paint and repainted Rolls Royce Shell Metallic Grey. Various rust repairs and restoration. Some details provided of careful reassembly over following year or so.
