Jaguar E Type Series 3
V12 Coupe Auto

£47,995

1973

70,000 miles showing

• Original RHD, UK market car
• "Matching numbers" chassis engine and gearbox
• Original colour combination of silver with Moss Green leather

A lovely UK market RHD E Type being one of only 2,116 made. A well sorted example that benefits from a previous body restoration and repaint. Judging by the defined panel edges within the various box sections of the bonnet for example, this was an extremely solid car prior to restoration - most likely due to the liberally applied rust proofing that seems to have been applied early in the cars life. Similarly the interior and engine bay retains a genuine patina in line with the indicated 70,000 miles.

Originally supplied to Henleys in London and registered to a Mr Katz with the plate ROY4L, the car was exported to Finland in 1977 where it remained until it was repatriated during lockdown following the death of its last Finnish owner in 2020 (Mr. Robert Paulig - the owner of the Finnish Roberts chain of coffee shops).

Overall, the paintwork is excellent with only the odd blemish and stone chip. All the chrome work is in lovely condition with the steel wheels looking particularly nice in the optional full chrome finish (and far nicer than wires on a series 3).

The original Moss green interior is not a common colour combination with metallic silver (itself a special order colour) but really suits the car and provides a welcome relief from the usual sombre black or over restored beige that is usually present. The carpets look to be  original to the car and in great shape in line with the indicated mileage. A lovely wood rimmed Mota Lita steering wheel has been fitted and the car has a period correct  Blaupunkt radio. Overall, the interior is in lovely condition with no damage and an appropriate, light patina in line with mileage. The rear boot space is also undamaged and the ‘folding’ +2 seats works correctly.

The engine bay is very original and well cared for rather than restored. There is MSD electronic ignition fitted and the under bonnet itself is Zeibarted. The car sports a stainless exhaust system and recent Gaz shock absorbers.

The car is on the button and running very well with a good spread of power, smooth changes from the 3 speed auto and fine handling as would be expected from a car with the indicated mileage.  Series 3 E Types represent great value for money in todays market, particularly as they are so much more useable than the earlier cars, enjoying as they do power steering and brakes with modern levels of effectiveness. The increased wheelbase also means that they actually fit the modern driver.

To be supplied with a 12 months MOT (though is of course registered as an historic and therefore exempt) and service included at the asking price.
